OLG Slots at Rideau Carleton Raceway Lock-Out in Ottawa- Updated

Approximately 124 workers at OLG Slots at Rideau Carleton Raceway  on Albion Road in Ottawa have been locked out of the gaming venue since its owner, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), locked out slots workers on December 15, 2015.

Management at the facility locked the doors to the slots due to stalled contract negotiations between a group of Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) workers and the OLG. The workers old agreement expired almost two years ago. The employees affected work on the gaming floor as technicians, slot attendants, and cashiers. Slots hours have been cut, but the dispute has not affected the racetrack.

NCAA Survey Finds College Students Extensively Engage in Sports Betting

The NCAA, a nonprofit organization that regulates student athletics, has conducted a survey to present the distribution of wagering habits among different adult groups. The organization has recently released the results showing that young adults more often engage in betting than other groups, particularly those included in college campuses or minority communities, as ESPN reports.

NFL Commissioner calls for new ‘uniform standards’ in sportsbetting

The Commissioner for the National Football League (NFL), Roger Goodell (pictured), has called upon the federal government to pass legislation that would establish ‘uniform standards’ for the regulation of legalized real-money sportsbetting.
